The second my dad came home with a huge basket of some perfectly, some overly ripe plums, my conscience suddenly said it’s time to pull the cardamom out.

If a scent other than potpourri could represent the coming season, consider this jam it. My house smells great and my pb&j sandwiches taste even greater.

Even better, this super tasty chia jam is fool-proof!

Spiced Plum Jam

Things I used:

3 very ripe red plums

2 tbsp chia seeds

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp cardamom

1/4 tsp sea salt

How I did it:

Wash and cube plums

Cook on a low-medium heat, stirring occasionally, allowing the plums start to soften and bubble

Continue stirring until the plums have boiled down and are, for the most part, smooth

Remove the jam from the heat

Stir in cinnamon and cardamom

Add in chia seeds and continue mixing for about a minute while the mixture cools

Let the jam rest until cool before jarring and storing it in the fridge

I’d recommend spreading this on a toasted slice of sourdough with a bit of greek yogurt and cinnamon, maybe even fresh basil if you’ve got it... Holy moly. Or you can use it on a cashew butter and jam sandwich!! Wow.

Happy almost autumn, enjoy!
