Blanchflower: Sweet corn fritters. House-made sourdough with poached eggs, pesto, sprouts & toasted pumpkin seeds. Pistachio lemon pound cake. Brownies. Good coffee.

George & Dragon: Trust me as I say England has great Indian food. Getting a curry at a pub is not out of question. In fact, it’s probably only right you do get a curry at a pub.

See a wine bar? Grab a Pinot Noir and drink it in my honor.

Swing by a pub (pick a pub! any pub!) and stay a while…

Do

Still on the pub talk. Bring a pack of cards or, if you’re lucky, play some games available there. Most places also have weekly happenings, trivia nights, karaoke. You don’t need me to tell you these kinds of things are what make for nights of belly laughing and good stories.

Eat

The Flour Station: Butter croissant, focaccia, kouign amann & other incredible sourdough things!

Located in Kings Cross Market

Ginger + White: A very modern cafe with a very lovely menu. Sourdough, house-made peanut butter with seasonal jam. A latte made with hazelnut milk, flavors that I will forever see as perfectly fitting together.

vegetarian pesto risotto with seasonal vegetables from Zizzi

Located in Hampstead

Zizzi: Being someone who isn’t big on cheese or red meats, Italian food isn’t typically my first choice. This was a great choice for my family as it had all of the classic, beloved Italian dishes on top of some less cheesy, less meaty dishes for me, too. I ordered a vegan risotto, made with pesto, peas, leeks, courgette, onion, spinach & toasted pine nuts. It was so creamy, so zingy, so so perfect for Spring!

Zetter Townhouse: We came here for afternoon tea, where I got the vegetarian menu in addition to a pot of peppermint brew.

Sandwiches:

  • St. Ewe egg salad with tarragon & horseradish

  • Somerset brie cheese

  • smoked tomato chutney, avocado, cranberry & rocket

  • confit butternut squash & chestnuts

Scones:

  • plain & raisin scones served with Cornish clotted cream & mixed berry preserves (I ate so many scones when here… so light and buttery and pillowy centers and perfectly toasted on the ouside)

Dessert:

  • braeburn apple & calvados tart

  • sticky orange entremet, orange blossom

  • meringue callebaut chocolate choux filled with passionfruit curd (so!!! good!!!)

drink

Black Sheep Coffee: They have a good oat milk latte, you can’t really complain with this one.
