Spicy Air-Fried Chickpeas
I'd like to make the bold statement that chickpeas/garbanzo beans/whatever you want to call them are my favorite bean.
I’d like to follow that statement up by recognizing that I am a rare case of a 20-year-old and might possibly be the only one out there with a favorite bean. But… how could one have a crunchy, spicy, bean and not love it? I don’t really care to know how, because I don’t want to be influenced negatively.
Plus, these beans are a great source of carbohydrate, protein, fiber, and other vitamins that your body will thank you for!!
Also, If you don’t have an air-fryer yet, please get one. You’re depriving yourself of one of the greatest goods by not investing.
Spicy Air-Fried Chickpeas
Things I used:
1 can organic garbanzo beans
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp cayenne
Avocado oil spray: I use this one! I get it off Thrive Market because it’s cheaper. Use this link for a discount! (Alternatively use about a tsp of Extra Virgin Olive Oil)
How I did it:
Drain and rinse your chickpeas (Save the liquid, though! It’s called aquafaba—no I’m not lying, nor did I make that up— You can use it to bake or as an egg substitute… google some recipes!)
In a bowl, lightly spray the chickpeas
Toss in the spice mixture until evenly coated
Air fry at 360F for about 20 minutes
That’s it!! I’ve enjoyed these lil guys on a salad as seen below and even just as a snack by their lonesome. Super good! Enjoy :)
