Smoothie Full of Secrets

This was supposed to be a smoothie bowl, but I kind suck at making those. Doesn't matter my liquid to solid ratio, how much ice I add, how frozen a banana is... I can never get the consistency right. But you know what I can nail without a doubt, every time? Taste!!!

Did you know that you can actually eat too much fruit a day?

Upon learning and researching the truth about their even being a measurement of "too much fruit", my heart actually hurt a little bit. I have always been someone who's loved smoothies and smoothie bowls and snacking on apples with peanut-butter or a pear with cinnamon and almond-butter throughout the day. In order to find a happy medium where I was still able to have a smoothie without having to limit my usage of fruits throughout other meals or snack-times, I had to get creative with what I put in my smoothies.

Pro-tip: Instead of adding 3-4 different servings of fruit, only add 1 or 2!

Smoothie Full of Secrets

Things I used in the blender:

  • A banana: Everyone swears by adding frozen bananas into smoothies because it makes it "thicker"... it does not help me at all... but I still do it anyway.

  • 2 scoops of Orgain Organic Chocolate Fudge Protein Powder: This stuff smells like hot chocolate... and has 21g of organic, plant-based protein

  • A huge handful of spinach: Spinach is a great ingredient because it doesn't add a weird taste to the chocolate, peanut butter aspect of the mix and is a perfect way to sneak in some greens.

  • 1 tsp maca powder

  • 5-6 ice cubes

Things I used on the top:

And of course, the reasons behind my secrets:

Here are the benefits of spinachmaca root, and chia seeds!
