Local Greens

If you ever happen to find your hungry self in Solana Beach or Point Loma, you definitely need to stop by Local Greens.

After spending the morning on what was the biggest and funniest adventure of a train ride with my best friend (a song for another time, really), I was ravenously yelping my way through the food options closest to my exit. Heaven happened to bless my searching heart when I stumbled upon this guy, literally footsteps away from my train stop!

There I was, best friend at my side, excitedly hopping off the train and heading to lunch. Little did I know I was in for a treat. Local Greens is practically a wellness-lover's haven.

After reading about the business and their philosophy, I stumbled upon some information that made me love this place. Local Greens is a family owned fast and fresh restaurant. Proudly committed to supporting local farmers, Local Greens receives organic and seasonal foods from their local sources. They support and work with local schools and the local Boys and Girls Club in attempts to encourage children to make smart and nutritious decisions. By being conscientious of their carbon footprint, they use only compostable, recyclable packaging in attempts to leave the lightest negative impact on the environment as possible. COOL!

Not many businesses are willing to dive headfirst into the deep end of striving for a healthy body and planet, but this place is definitely swimming in the right pool!

Onto the important stuff: their menu was POPPIN. Salads, bowls, burritos, and smoothies galore. Check it out here. And they have a build your own bowl or wrap option soooo I obviously went with that since I'm indecisive and can't choose an existing option.

Here's what I ordered:

  • Chicken

  • Brown rice

  • Arugula

  • Sweet potatoes

  • Broccoli

  • Zucchini

  • Cherry tomatoes

  • Tahini!!!!

They also have GTS kombucha on tap, so if you're about that life like I am... you're in luck. If not, try the lemonade.
