Lattés I Love a Latté: Iced Matcha
A series!!! How exciting, the birth of an era. The beginning of something beautiful!
Look, I get it. You either love matcha or you hate it. It either tastes like heaven or earth to you.
For those of you who aren't big fans of the elevated green tea, maybe this will change your mind (if not your tastebuds): Matcha is a great source of antioxidants which protects your body from free-radicals (the evil little guys that sneak up on your health and make you prone to things like heart disease and other types of cancers). It also helps to protect the liver which plays an enormous role in filtering toxins out of your system. Matcha is also a decent source of caffeine, less in comparison to coffee, which makes this drink a great replacement for your typical latté if you're trying to cut back on the strong stuff.
Matcha is nothing new or groundbreaking, but here's how I typically make mine!
Iced Matcha Latté
Things I used:
1 tsp matcha powder: I use this
1/4 cup water
3/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk (sometimes if I'm feeling fun I add a small splash of vanilla extract to make things even more exciting)
1 tsp raw honey
How I did it:
Blend the matcha powder, water, and honey until evenly combined
Pour the matcha into a glass of ice
Blend the almond milk until frothy and foamy (if you have a frother, you can use that and replace this step but some of us make do with what we have)
Pour the almond milk into the matcha
Enjoy!!
P.S. If I ever want a warm latté, I just simply pour the matcha and almond milk into a mug and microwave it for a few minutes on a low power level until it reaches the temperature I want it at :)
